We packed up the Fat Bike Skis demo fleet and headed to New Hampshire for the first annual Winter Woolly event at Highland. As one of the first lift served winter fat bike events in the world it was a great chance to share the downhill performance benefits of the Fat Bike Ski with a very enthusiastic crowd.
Mariah and Brooke were busy sending our bikes up the hill all day and had a waiting list of riders looking for their chance to try our setup. With 10” of new snow on the trails it was ideal conditions for our bikes! We even heard a few people say, “That’s it, I’m only riding a Fat Bike Ski for the rest of the day.”
Loading the Fat Bike Skis on the chairlift hook was a breeze and a really incredible opportunity. The race course used the Happy Hour trail which winds down under the lift for much of the time. Lift riders were cheering and heckling while watching the racers make their way down the loose snowy course.
After passing 4 riders in his race run, Brooke won by 50 seconds on a 4 minute course, prompting the organizers to put Fat Bike Skis in their own category! The loose powdery ruts were awesome to smash through with the ski tracking perfectly the whole time.
Michael, a confident first-time demo rider, placed 4th overall on his first run on the Fat Bike Ski!
We couldn’t have been happier with the event and all the stoked riders who came out. Looking forward to this event every year!
